Tofu Balls Recipe

 

Ingredients:

  • Hard tofu (water should be pressed out beforehand): 250gm
  • Shrimps (peeled and deveined): 150gm
  • Finely chopped onions: 100gm 
  • Shishito (sweet green peppers): 20gm
  • Fresh Coriander (chopped): to taste
  • Egg: 1 medium
  • Breadcrumbs: 40gm or more depending upon the type of tofu
  • Salt/Pepper: to taste
  • Nutmeg: to taste
  • Paprika Powder: to taste
  • Cumin powder (optional): to taste

Directions:

  • Place a heavy object on tofu to press water out of it.
  • In a mixing bowl, crush hardened tofu into fine pieces.
  • Chop shrimps, onions and coriander. Combine them with tofu.
  • Add egg, breadcrumbs and spices. 
  • Using your hand mix them swiftly until the mixture becomes smooth and a kind of sticky. Add more breadcrumbs if the mixture is still hard to shape.
  • Shape the mixture into small balls.
  • Heat oil in a pan at 170 degree centigrade.
  • Fry the balls until they turn golden brown.
